Precious Square Baby Blanket

Designed by Mary Jane Protus.
Blanket size is 36” x 36”.
Level: easy.
Yarn: 2 skeins TLC Baby Amore Yarn-Rose
2 skeins TLC Baby Amore Yarn-White
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].
Guage: 14 dc = 4”; 4 rows = 3”; 6 rows = 4” in pattern.

BLANKET
With A, ch 4, join with slip st to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 6 (counts as a dc and ch-3 space), [3 dc in
ring, ch 3] 3 times, 2 dc in ring, join with slip st in 3rd ch
of beginning ch.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next
space for corner, [dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next
space] 3 times, dc in next 2 dc, join with slip st to top of
beginning ch – 7 dc on each side.
Fasten off.
Round 3: Join B in any corner space, (ch 3, sc) in same
space, 5 dc in next dc – 5-dc shell, *[skip 2 dc, sc in next
dc, skip 2 dc, 5 dc in next dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in cornerspace,
5 dc in next dc] 3 times, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc,
skip 2 dc, 5 dc in next dc, slip in first ch of beginning ch
to join.
Round 4: With A, join with sc in middle dc of last 5-dc
shell on Round 3, [ch 2, (dc, ch 3, dc) in corner-space,
ch 2, sc in middle dc of next 5-dc shell, ch 2, (dc in dc
of Round 2 below sc), ch 2, sc in middle sc of 5-dc shell]
3 times, ch 2, (dc, ch 3, dc) in corner ch-2 space, sc in
middle dc of next 5-dc shell, ch 2, dc in dc of Round 2
below sc, ch 2, slip st to first sc to join.
Round 5: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ch-2 space, *dc in
dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in corner-space, [dc in dc, 2 dc in
ch-2 space, dc in sc, 2 dc in ch-2 space] 2 times; repeat
from * 2 more times, dc in dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in cornerspace,
work between [] once, dc in dc, 2 dc in ch-space,
slip st to top of beginning ch to join.
Round 6: Ch 3 (counts as dc), *dc in each dc across to
corner space, (dc, ch 3, dc) in corner-space; repeat from
* around, dc in each dc to beginning ch, slip st in top of
beginning ch to join – 19 dc on each side.
Fasten off.
Round 7: Join B with a slip st in any corner-space,
*(sc, ch 3, sc) in corner-space, *5-dc shell next dc, [skip
2 dc, sc in next dc, skip 2 dc, 5-dc shell in next dc] across
to next corner space; repeat from * around, slip st to first
sc to join – four 5-dc shells on each side.
Fasten off.
Round 8: Join A with a slip st in any corner-space,
*(dc, ch 3, dc) in corner-space, [ch 2, sc in middle dc of
next 5-dc shell, ch 2, dc in dc of Round 2 below sc] across
to corner-space, ch 2; repeat from * around, slip st to top
of beginning ch to join.
Round 9: Repeat Round 5 – 29 dc on each side.
Round 10: Repeat Round 6 – 31 dc in each side. Fasten
off.
Round 11: With B, repeat Round 7 – six 5-dc shells on
each side.
Repeat Rounds 8-11 six more times – 18 5-dc shells on
each side.
Last Round: Slip st into any corner-space, ch 1, **(sc,
ch 2, sc) in corner-space, ch 1, *[sc in space between
next 2 dc, ch 1] 4 times, sc in next sc; repeat from * across
to last 5-dc shell, work between [] once; repeat from **
around, slip st to first sc to join.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.
